About RGIPT
The Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Jais, was established by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Government of India, through an Act of Parliament. Recognized as an Institution of National Importance, RGIPT stands alongside the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and is empowered to award degrees in its own right.
The institute is co-promoted by six leading Public Sector Undertakings—Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil India Limited (OIL), GAIL (India) Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)—in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB). It also maintains collaborations with renowned international universities and institutions specializing in petroleum technology and the energy sector, fostering global academic and research excellence.
